Two former ECR Baseball Players are on same MLB team in Boston: Conor Jackson (2000) & Ryan Lavarnway (2005). Conor was traded from Oakland and Ryan was promoted from AAA, his second call up this season.

Three pitchers combined to 3-hit Chatsworth, but 4-unearned runs in the 3rd inning was the difference in the ball game, in a 5-2 loss. Justin Russell pitched 4.1 giving up 3 hits and 5 runs (1 earned), Luke Laurita came in with one out and bases loaded to get out of the inning, and sophomore Dylan Savoie pitched a scoreless 6th. Russell also had 2-hits on the day. Chris Scalisi was 2-3 with 2 RBI.  ECR finished the summer with a 17-7 record

6/1/11 vs. San Fernando (Semi-finals @ USC)
ECR stranded 4 runners in the first 3 innings and the offense did not get anything started until the 6th inning. Down 1-0 nothing in the bottom of the 6th, Oscar Tinjaca got the first hit (a single) for ECR. JJ Crane pinch ran for Oscar and Mason Novak got down a sac bunt to move Crane to 2nd. With 2 outs, Jake Mills tripled down the right field line to tie up the score. Moving on to the 10th inning, San Fernando doubled in a run to take a 2-1 lead off of AJ Silberman. Chris Whitmer struck out the the next two batters to end the inning. Bottom of the 10th ECR had a runner on first with 2 outs, but San Fernando finished off the next hitter to earn a trip to Dodger Stadium. A great pitchers duel

5/26/11 vs. Narbonne (RD II of Playoffs)
Narbonne jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning, but ECR scored on a Mason Novak (1-2, 2 RBI) Sac Fly, in the bottom of the 1st to make it 3-1. Narbonne scored an unearned run in the 2nd to take a 4-1 lead. After catcher, Chris Whitmer, got deliberatley ran over at the plate, the ECR offense responded. Chris Nicholson (3-4, 3 runs, 4 RBI) hit a solo HR in the 3rd inning, and Chris Whitmer shut down the Gauchos in the 4th and 5th innings. In the bottom of the fourth with the bases loaded, Nicholson cleared them with a double to straight away center field to make it 5-4 ECR. ECR scored one more in the 4th to take a 6-4 game into the 7th. Narbonne scored an unearned run in the 7th, but Jose Cardona pitched the final 2 innings for the save.

ECR had 4 errors on the day, but the pitching and offense (10 hits & 7 BB) picked up the slack!

5/24/11 vs. Sylmar (RD I of playoffs)
Jose Cardona
dominated the Spartan offense today with a complete game, shutout effort. He induced 12 groundball outs and struck out 7, while giving up only 1 hit. He also got the Conquistadore offense going with a solo HR in the 1st innings. Mason Novak (2-2)continued the run scoring with an RBI double in the 3rd inn, in which the RF made an error that allowed another run to score making it 3-0 ECR. Chris Whitmer drove in 2 runs with a single in the 4th to make it 5-0 ECR through 4 innings. Jake Mills drove in a run in the 5th making the final score ECR 6 - Sylmar -0

2005 Alum, Ryan Lavarnway, is set to kick off his spring training debut against Boston College on Saturday 2/26.

In the 2011 Alumni vs. Varsity contest, the alumni got off to an early 1-0 lead on an rbi single by Dave Mughaden (02'), in the 2nd inning. The alumni scored 3 more runs in the top of the 3rd inning on a a single by Tyler Kolodny (07') and a double by Eric Pettis (06'), to take a 4-0 lead. The ECR varsity rallied for 4 runs of their own in the next two innings capped off by a Jose Cardona 2-run HR which tied the score at 4. ECR varsity took a 5-4 lead going into the 8th inning, when the alumni scored 7 runs, in which the go ahead run was driven in by Mike Callahan (75') on a double. Nick Eustrom (02') also had an rbi double. Trailing 11-5 bottom of 9, ECR varsity rallied for 5 more runs, but left the bases loaded to end the game.

Offensive Co-Player of the Year: C Ryan Lavarnway, Single-A Salem/Double-A Portland: Batted .288 (133-for-462) with 27 doubles, 22 home runs, 70 walks and 102 RBI in 126 games with Salem and Portland...Led Boston's minor league system in RBI and ranked second in homers...The 23 year old was named Player of the Week in both the Carolina League (April 8-18) and Eastern League (August 23-29)...Named to both the Carolina League mid-season and post-season All-Star teams...Selected as the eighth pick by the Red Sox (sixth round, 202nd overall) in the 2008 First-Year Player Draft.

A roller coaster of a game indeed. San Pedro jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st, both unearned runs. ECR responded with an unearned run of their own to make it 2-1. San Pedro takes a 3-1 lead going into the bottom of the 4th, until Justin Scovel cleared the bases with a 2-out 3RBI triple to right center to put ECR up 4-3. Jose Cardona followed with an RBI double. San Pedro scored 4 runs (3 unearned in the top of the 5th to put them up 7-5. ECR scored one in the 5th on a wild pitch to make it 7-6 San Pedro. San Pedro scored another unearned run in the top of the 6th to make it 8-6. El Camino responded with another run on an RBI single by Ivan Vela driving in Chris Whitmer.

Going into the bottom of the 7th, trailing 8-7 with 2 outs and a runner on 1st, Justin Scovel delivered another triple to right center field and scored the winning run on a passed ball to win it 9-8. UNBELIEVABLE GAME!!!

Jose Cardona picked up his 10th win of the season pitching a complete game (8 innings) striking out 8 and giving up only 1 hit. Jake Mills came through in the top of the 8th inning with a 1-out 2 RBI triple. Daniel Dungan followed with a sacrifice fly to make the lead 3-0, which was the final.

El Camino will face San Pedro for the DI City Title on Sat @ 1pm.

El Camino jumped out to a 1-0 lead at the top of the 1st on an RBI double by Mitch Bluman driving in Chris Whitmer. Birmingham scored 2 in the bottom of the 1st on 1 hit, 3 walks and a hit batter. That is all Birmingham would get until the 7th, but by that time it was too late. In the next 5 innings, ECR scored 9 runs. In the 3rd, Kyle Keppel hit an rbi triple, then hit a 3-run HR in the 4th; a single in the 6th and an RBI double in the 9th to end the day with, believed to be ECR's first ever Cycle? Jose Cardona picked up his 5th win of the season striking out 6 in 6 innings and only allowing one hit.

6/13/09 - City section all-stars made up of 16 West Valley players dominated the Southern section all-stars 10-1. Travis Keppel was 0-2 with two hard hit outs, a groundball that the 2nd baseman made a web-gem on, and a line drive right at the short-stop. Michael Booth was 0-0 with 2 BB's and he pitched a scoreless inning striking out the side. Alexander DeLeon was 0-1 with a BB and a run scored. DeLeon also won the HR derby, his 2nd HR derby crown of the season.

Playoffs Round 3 @ Chatsworth
Michael Booth pitched a strong 3.1 innings yielding 4 hits and giving up 2 earned runs and 4 unearned runs. Down 4-0 in the top of the 5th, Booth hit his 15th HR of the season, a 2-run shot to cut the lead in half. Chatsworth responded with 4 more runs to take an 8-2 lead. ECR battled back with 2 more runs in the 6th, highlighted by a Travis Keppel solo shot (his 10th) and a Ivan Vela run scoring single to make it 8-4. Keppel added an RBI double in the top of the 7th but that would be it. Greg Burtch a solid 2.1 innings of shutout, one-hit baseball in relief.

This was the first time ECR had advanced to the Semi-finals since 2006.

Playoffs Round 2 (5/22/09)
Banning jumped in front 3-0 in the first inning, before ECR answered back with 1 in the 1st, 5 in the 3rd, 3 in 4th, 2 in the 5th and 3 in the 6th. Chris Whitmer was 2-2 with 2 RBI; Michael Booth was 4-4 with 3 RBI (Booth hit his 14th HR of the season); Mitch Bluman hit a 2-run HR; Ivan Vela was 3-4 with 2 RBI (Vela hit a solo HR); Jeff Sutherland was 2-3 and Greg Burtch picked up his 8th win of the season pitching 3 innings in relief.

JV - 9 Bell - 0 (5/21/09)

Playoffs Round 1 (5/20/09)
Michael Booth struck out 10 and gave up one unearned run in a complete game performance to open up the playoffs. Ivan Vela was 3-3 with 3 RBI. Jake Laurita had a RBI single and Alexander DeLeon had an RBI triple. Mitch Bluman scored two runs.
