A roller coaster of a game indeed. San Pedro jumped out to an early 2-0 lead
in the top of the 1st, both unearned runs. ECR responded with an unearned run of their own to make it 2-1. San Pedro takes
a 3-1 lead going into the bottom of the 4th, until Justin Scovel cleared the bases with a 2-out 3RBI triple
to right center to put ECR up 4-3. Jose Cardona followed with an RBI double. San Pedro scored 4 runs (3 unearned
in the top of the 5th to put them up 7-5. ECR scored one in the 5th on a wild pitch to make it 7-6 San Pedro. San Pedro scored
another unearned run in the top of the 6th to make it 8-6. El Camino responded with another run on an RBI single by Ivan
Vela driving in Chris Whitmer.
Going into the bottom of the 7th, trailing 8-7 with 2
outs and a runner on 1st, Justin Scovel delivered another triple to right center field and scored the winning
run on a passed ball to win it 9-8. UNBELIEVABLE GAME!!!

Jose Cardona picked up his 10th win of the season pitching
a complete game (8 innings) striking out 8 and giving up only 1 hit. Jake Mills came through in the top of
the 8th inning with a 1-out 2 RBI triple. Daniel Dungan followed with a sacrifice fly to make the lead 3-0,
which was the final.
El Camino will face San Pedro for the DI City Title on Sat @ 1pm.

2-hit baseball in 5 innings of work. Ivan Vela hit his 1st HR of the season, a 3-run hr in the 2nd inning.

with 2 RBI.

by Mitch Bluman driving in Chris Whitmer. Birmingham scored 2 in the bottom of the 1st on
1 hit, 3 walks and a hit batter. That is all Birmingham would get until the 7th, but by that time it was too late. In the
next 5 innings, ECR scored 9 runs. In the 3rd, Kyle Keppel hit an rbi triple, then hit a 3-run HR in
the 4th; a single in the 6th and an RBI double in the 9th to end the day with, believed to be ECR's first ever Cycle?
Jose Cardona picked up his 5th win of the season striking out 6 in 6 innings and only allowing one hit.

All City Selections 2009 1st Team All City: Travis Keppel Michael Booth Alexander DeLeon
2nd Team All City: Alex Mejia Jose Cardona
6/13/09 - City section all-stars made up of 16 West
Valley players dominated the Southern section all-stars 10-1. Travis Keppel was 0-2 with two hard hit outs,
a groundball that the 2nd baseman made a web-gem on, and a line drive right at the short-stop. Michael Booth
was 0-0 with 2 BB's and he pitched a scoreless inning striking out the side. Alexander DeLeon was 0-1
with a BB and a run scored. DeLeon also won the HR derby, his 2nd HR derby crown of the season.
Great end to a
great HS career gentlemen, we are all very proud of you, you represented El Camino well!

Playoffs Round 3 @ Chatsworth Michael
Booth pitched a strong 3.1 innings yielding 4 hits and giving up 2 earned runs and 4 unearned runs. Down 4-0 in the
top of the 5th, Booth hit his 15th HR of the season, a 2-run shot to cut the lead in half. Chatsworth responded with 4 more
runs to take an 8-2 lead. ECR battled back with 2 more runs in the 6th, highlighted by a Travis Keppel solo
shot (his 10th) and a Ivan Vela run scoring single to make it 8-4. Keppel added an RBI double in the top
of the 7th but that would be it. Greg Burtch a solid 2.1 innings of shutout, one-hit baseball in relief.
This was the first time ECR had advanced to the Semi-finals since 2006.
Playoffs Round 2 (5/22/09) Banning jumped
in front 3-0 in the first inning, before ECR answered back with 1 in the 1st, 5 in the 3rd, 3 in 4th, 2 in the 5th and 3 in
the 6th. Chris Whitmer was 2-2 with 2 RBI; Michael Booth was 4-4 with 3 RBI (Booth hit his
14th HR of the season); Mitch Bluman hit a 2-run HR; Ivan Vela was 3-4 with 2 RBI (Vela
hit a solo HR); Jeff Sutherland was 2-3 and Greg Burtch picked up his 8th win of the season
pitching 3 innings in relief.
JV - 9 Bell - 0 (5/21/09)
Playoffs Round 1 (5/20/09) Michael Booth
struck out 10 and gave up one unearned run in a complete game performance to open up the playoffs. Ivan Vela
was 3-3 with 3 RBI. Jake Laurita had a RBI single and Alexander DeLeon had an RBI triple.
Mitch Bluman scored two runs.
